A barbershop in Spain, a classic car showroom in Los Angeles and an urban streetwear brand in London all have an unusual connection. These burgeoning businesses are managed by independent advertising agency Kastner & Partners.
Johannes Kastner, who founded the agency in Austria in 1985, challenged staffers about six years ago to set up separate businesses in each office. The idea was that the new businesses would be something the office was passionate about and wanted to invest time and energy in. Each offshoot has a P&L that is separate from that of the individual office.
"Entrepreneurial spirit is what we live on at Kastner," said Brandon Rochon, chief creative officer at the agency, which helped launch Red Bull in 1987 and still works with the energy drink brand today.
We are looking for a talented young designer to join us for a one-month internship. You will be working with the design team, assisting day to day on a range of projects from branding to advertising campaigns. We’ll offer guidance on how to answer briefs and how to operate within brand guidelines, as well as an analytical and helpful eye on all your work.
We want to give you exposure to an advertising agency and all that that entails. You’ll learn the process from start to finish. We want you to come out of the experience with a solid understanding of what to expect from the industry.
— Degree (imminent or received) or equivalent qualification in Graphic Design.
— Good knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects is a plus).
— Knowledge of the print production process
— Passion for high quality graphic design and typography
— Good attention to detail, and an eye for good composition and layout
— Ability to take instruction and listen to feedback.
— Strong communications skills and a friendly, open and positive attitude.
Time: 1 month internship
Salary: Travel Expenses + breakfast (and beers on Friday)
Deadline: April 22, 2016
How to apply:
If you read the above and thought “That’s me!” then all you need to do is pull together:
— A short paragraph of 150 words to introduce yourself
— 3 examples (maximum) of strong, relevant work
— 3 examples of work you’ve seen and why you like it. (Or perhaps even don’t like it!?)
And pop an email over to email@example.com
Unfortunately given the large number of applicants, we’re not going to be able to respond to everyone!
This month, the K&P London backed fashion label, Roux., unveiled the lookbook for their highly anticipated new Spring/Summer 2016 collection.
The latest offering draws inspiration from French photographer Matthieu Venot and his use of clean, uncluttered composition, and bold pastel tones. With strong oblique lines, open hem silhouettes and a soft dusty pink against light grey and navy, the new collection has already started grabbing the attention of fashion bloggers from all over the world, including the highly regarded online fashion site, Highsnobiety. Kastner & Partners in London are delighted to announce that our first advertising campaign for The Folio Society has taken over London.
Covering multiple outdoor sites across the capital, including a number of major tube stations, the striking imagery is sure to turn heads as well as pages this Christmas. The Bookmark concept conceived for the Christmas campaign will continue into 2016, as new titles are added to The Folio Society list.
The number of passionate bookworms at K&P London, and the fact that The Folio Society produce the world’s most beautiful books, helped make this project a little bit special and a pleasure to work on for everyone involved.
Kastner & Partners in London are delighted to welcome a new client, Brixton Motorcycles, to our growing roster of clients. The new brand, which produces beautiful, retro inspired bikes, came to K&P London for expertise, guidance and creative input in order to kick-start their global launch.
Brixton are gearing up to unveil their first bike - a vintage style 125cc - at the EICMA in Milan next week (19th-22nd November), and thus, launch their brand. So as they pick up speed, stay tuned for more updates.
After months of coordination and hard work, last week saw the launch of the Tony Briggs Your Own Soho book in aid of Save Soho at the elegant Blacks Club.
Kastner & Partners in London, together with the agency-backed fashion brand Roux., collaborated with iconic photographer, Tony Briggs, to produce a stunning snapshot of Soho life and showcase many of the varied and unique characters that inhabit this world famous area.
On the night, the atmosphere inside Blacks was buzzing as an eclectic mix of local business owners, artists, actors, musicians, models and photographers turned out in force to support the cause, and the event was a huge success. The book was flying off the table and every penny of profits will go towards the Save Soho Foundation - a charity established to protect the area from re-development.
Although limited to 500 copies, you can still get your hands on a copy and show your support here > >
Kastner & Partners in London’s first advertising campaign for KÖLD Cocktails goes live this month. The integrated campaign starts initially with a series of print & press executions and is based around the brand’s Scandinavian influences - KÖLD provides a unique, premium product that offers a sleek, sophisticated solution to drinking at home.
The London-based frozen cocktails company, which won a Great Taste Award for its Lychee Martini earlier in the year, can already be found in John Lewis and other premium retailers. And as this campaign will be the brand's first consumer-facing advertising, let’s hope the hot streak continues for KÖLD.
Kastner & Partners are pleased to announce that Anspach & Hobday’s latest offering, The Cream Ale, joins their award winning collection. The new addition brings the lineup of beer styles in their core range up to seven, so they certainly have got all bases covered.
The Cream Ale is a take on a pre-prohibition American hybrid of Pale Ale and Light American Lager, and our latest design continues the unique identity and branding concept we created for A&H. The combination of lime zest, lemon and grapefruit creates a light, crisp and immensely refreshing flavour with an intense tropical aroma, and looks destined to be another home run for the Bermondsey brewers.

Recent advertising graduate Ben Moon landed a month long placement at Kastner & Partners in London after winning his own space race at Birmingham City University’s annual awards ceremony.
Ben scooped the K&P sponsored award and made the giant leap down to the capital to spend four weeks with us, working within our creative department. He was a pleasure to have around and we hope he’s enjoyed his first taste of advertising.
We all wish him the very best for the next phase of his career journey. After all, the moon needs a day job, right Ben?

As well as producing multi-award winning beers, Anspach & Hobday are becoming a prolific winner in branding & design categories as well. Kastner & Partners in London picked up a Bronze at the Harpers Wine & Spirit Global Design Awards.
The Harpers Awards are one of the most prestigious events in the drinks industry calendar and entries are judged by a panel of experts. The Global Design Awards showcase recently redesigned or newly launched brands, with winners chosen for their initial impact, target market and overall aesthetics.
So, as A&H continues to gain the reputation it deserves, it looks as if K&P will need a bigger trophy shelf to match.
K&P London are proud to announce the launch of our first branding campaign for Roux. - the agency-backed menswear label.
Featuring real Soho characters who live, work and socialise in the area, the 'Carve Your Own' campaign captures the strength of character and individuality that the brand embodies.
The first subjects featured in the campaign are; Art Director Harris Elliott, writer and artist Mikill Pane, Modestep drummer Pat Lundy, Soho legend Billy ‘Windows’ Lennox and the owner and founder of the hair salon 'Fish', Paul Burfoot. Iconic photographer Tony Briggs shot the stills and hours of video footage with us, which has been edited into a short film celebrating the unique status of Soho and its people. Stills captured for the campaign are also being used to create a coffee table book that will be available for sale in aid of Save Soho, the charity established to project the area from re-development.
This month, K&P-backed fashion brand Roux. has been awarded Best Newcomer in the FHM Collections Awards.
FHM needs no introduction and FHM Collections acts as their ‘life and style manual for smart men’. This month’s Autumn/Winter edition features their awards for 2016 described as 'the Oscars of menswear’. This is a fantastic achievement for Roux. given the brand is little over a year old, and testament to the hard work of all those involved.
In other new business news, KÖLD Cocktails, the London-based premium frozen cocktails company, has appointed K&P London to be their advertising agency. We worked closely with KÖLD brand owners Nick Sotiropoulos and Tori Carlaw to develop an integrated campaign for KÖLD that will help the brand to achieve its long-term goals.
Neil Cook, Creative MD for Kastner & Partners in London, commented:
“We met Nick and Tori at IFE 2015 and were fascinated by the concept behind KÖLD and excited by its potential. So we’re delighted that the creative work we developed for the brand has resonated so strongly for Nick and Tori. We look forward to bringing the campaign to market in Q4 2015 and rolling out many more exciting creative projects for KÖLD in 2016.”
